Is a dating scan date from conception?

The point of the scan is to work out how many weeks pregnant you are. You may have calculated the length of your pregnancy from the first day of your last menstrual period (LMP). However, conception doesnt actually occur until around 14 days after your LMP, or later if your cycle is longer than 28 days.

How does Doctor confirm pregnancy?

There are two main types of pregnancy tests that can let you know if youre pregnant: urine tests and blood tests. One tests the blood for the pregnancy hormone, hCG. And you need to see a doctor to have a blood test. The other checks the urine for the hCG hormone.
