Changes in an individual players Matchmaking Rating (MMR) are determined by which team won the match. When you win, the MMR of all players in your team goes up, while the opposite is true for when you lose.

Does heroes of the storm have matchmaking?

Quick Match is a gameplay mode of Heroes of the Storm. This mode sets two teams of five human-controlled heroes against each other on one random battleground in Player-Versus-Player style combat. Both teams might have the same hero (e.g. both teams might have Raynor), but matchmaking prefers to not make mirror matches.

How does heroes of the storm placement work?

At the start of each Season, a series of Placement Matches determines your initial rank. As you play ranked games, you gain (or lose) Rank Points at the end of every match. Earn (or lose) enough Rank Points and youll get promoted (or demoted) to the next Division.

Does Quick Play MMR affect competitive?

This is the first step required in order to participate in ranked play. However, the quick play mmr does not affect that much competitive play MMR, but it does affect it slightly. After your account is leveled and ready for ranked comes the most important step for ranked play – your first Placement games.
