Do people with Tourettes say what they feel?
Are tics saying what youre thinking? No. To describe Tourettes as saying what youre thinking would be over simplifying it. Most tics are totally random.
Do people with Tourettes get mad easily?
Rage. Some people with TS have anger that is out of control, or episodes of “rage.” Rage that happens repeatedly and is disproportionate to the situation that triggers it may be diagnosed as a mood disorder, like intermittent explosive disorder. Symptoms might include extreme verbal or physical aggression.
Can anger issues cause tics?
Anger and TS Disruptive or angry behaviours are reported in many people with TS. For people with TS and their families, the disruptive behaviour may be a source of greater imparment than their tics. For most people with anger problems and TS, the outbursts tend to occur several times per week and even per day.
What are rage attacks?
Rage attacks are sudden, out-of-control bursts of anger. These explosive outbursts can start without warning. They may also seem to be out of proportion to what triggered the episode. Rage attacks are different than tantrums. Tantrums are goal-oriented with the intent of getting an observer to do what the person wants.
Can tics be violent?
Episodes of explosive anger and aggression are reported in patients with tic disorders and probably contribute to psychosocial stress and low quality of life. The source of these symptoms is controversial.
