Viability Scan Waiting until 8 weeks will allow you to see more and we would encourage you to wait if you can. If all looks good at 8 weeks, you can be reassured that the pregnancy is on track and the chance of miscarrying has dropped significantly.

How early can you get scan?

An Early Pregnancy Scan (sometimes also called a Viability Scan or Dating Scan) provides reassurance in this very early stage of your pregnancy. A pregnancy can be seen on scan from as early as 6 weeks from the first day of your last period (LMP). We should be able to see a heartbeat from 6 weeks.

Are 6 week scans worth it?

Early reassurance scans are a fantastic way to confirm your gestation period and get a rough estimate of your babys due date. Providing that you are at least six weeks into the pregnancy, the sonographer will be able to take measurements of the baby, from the crown to the rump.
