Question: Can prisoners watch TV?

As a prisoner you will spend a significant amount of time being locked in your cell. Everybody except those on Basic will have access to a small TV with a limited selection of channels, but in most cases no radio facilities. Many prisoners purchase from the facilities list a small radio or even a small HiFi system.

Can prisoners watch TV all night?

Inmates who are incarcerated in most federal facilities are not allowed to buy personal TVs for their cell, but they do have TVs in day rooms and recreation areas. This can cause problems because not everyone will agree on what to watch, and that can lead to fights.

Can prisoners have TV?

Televisions are allowed for both the low and medium prisons. A prisoner in a maximum-security prison cannot own a television set. Some prisons do not allow prisoners to own TV sets, and they can only watch the one provided by the facility.

Can inmates watch the news?

They may watch TV or read. Most correctional centres have libraries, or prisoners may have books in their unit. Newspapers may be available, or may be ordered through the buy up system.
